Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, accompanied by a delegation, arrived in India on a four-day official visit. The delegation including the Prime Minister of Nepal received a warm welcome from the Government of India. Pushpa Kamal Dahal once again became the Prime Minister of Nepal in December last year. After becoming the prime minister, this is the first time he is going on a foreign tour. Earlier, in 2008, when he was the Prime Minister of Nepal, Pushpa Kamal Dahal had made official visits to India on two occasions.
The Prime Minister of Nepal is also scheduled to hold talks with the Government of India on strengthening bilateral ties, in the energy sector and establishing new air routes over Nepal. Even now, several hydropower projects in Nepal are sponsored by the Indian government. Nepal, which has the capacity to generate up to 42,000 MW of hydropower, hopes to produce about 3,500 MW by next year against its domestic demand of 2,000 MW.
Dahal, 68, was a Maoist rebel leader before entering politics. He was a terrible leader and was known as ‘Prachanda’ then. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pushpa Kamal Dal have good relations. After becoming the Prime Minister of India in 2014, Modi visited Nepal on five occasions. Modi last visited Nepal in 2022. (Reuters)
