During the visit of Wijitha Herath, Member of Parliament of the National People’s Power, he met the Sri Lankan Ambassador to Oman and the staff of the Embassy and engaged in a friendly discussion. After that, the MP met more than 100 Sri Lankan domestic workers who are currently staying in the shelter.
The MP who listened to their grievances very carefully said that he will inform the relevant departments and the Parliament of Sri Lanka about this.
The MP observed how these women are staying in a very limited space under very few facilities. Although there are about 20 people who can stay in the safe house, more than a hundred people are currently staying there in a background that does not even have the minimum facilities. (Divaina)
