Foreign media say that 15 US states, neighbouring Mexico and Canada saw the total solar eclipse the day before yesterday (8) and millions of people in the American continent watched it. America’s NASA broadcasted the solar eclipse live through their websites. This one appeared as a partial solar eclipse for several European countries.

This scenario was visible in the coastal town of Mazatlan, Mexico, turning afternoon into night for a few minutes. Mexican President Andrés López was also interested in viewing the eclipse. Residents of Eagle Pass, Texas and New York saw this rare incident.

This occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth so that part or all of the Sun is covered. NASA has explained that it is very rare to see a total solar eclipse.

NASA has further said that Americans will get to see the next eclipse like this in 2044. (AFP)
