The Ministry of Agriculture says that steps will be taken to provide the fallow fields in the wet zone for other agricultural activities. Minister Mahinda Amaraweera mentions that many paddy lands in the wet zone have been left unused and unable to be cultivated.
The minister further said that as a budget proposal, those lands will be released for other crops and animal husbandry, and steps will be taken for that from next month. Accordingly, by applying to the Agricultural Development Center they belong to, there is the possibility of obtaining the necessary approval for cultivation.
