The National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) says the maximum retail prices of 60 types of medicines will be revised.
Chairman of the NMRA, Specialist Dr. Ananda Wijewickrama, said that the decision was taken due to the increase in the value of the US dollar.
He noted that the revision could result in price increases for some medicines.
The gazette outlining the maximum retail prices of these 60 medicines was last revised in 2023.
Meanwhile, Dr. Wijewickrama said inspections and raids are underway, and legal action will be taken against pharmacies selling medicines above the approved prices.
