Health officials say that 105 people infected with the Lassa virus have been found in Nigeria. In addition, it is also reported that the country’s health authorities are keeping an eye on 369 people who are suspected to be infected.
Between the 2nd and 15th of last January, these Lassa virus-infected people have been found. Health authorities estimate that it has spread to 10 states of Nigeria. Deadly viruses like Ebola, Marburg, and Lassa can spread to humans from rodents like rodents.
Lassa virus was first identified in Nigeria’s northeastern Bono state. That was in 1969. Doctors say that fever, headache, sore throat, cough, diarrhoea, muscle pain, and chest pain are symptoms of Lassa. (NDTV)
