Chief of the Presidential Staff Sagala Ratnayake has given instructions to the relevant departments to make necessary arrangements for the immediate rescue of the affected people in the districts where disaster situations may occur on the island.
It is said that the Chief of Staff of the President has given the instructions in a meeting held yesterday (14) with the officers of the Armed Forces, the Police and the Disaster Management Center. In order to speed up the subsidence of the floods that have occurred in many areas, further instructions have been given to dig and widen the mouths of the rivers and to keep boats ready to rescue the affected people.
