Foreign media reports that Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida is willing to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to hold talks with North Korea.
Foreign media reported this, citing an announcement issued by the North Korean government. The announcement was made on behalf of the Korean government by Kim Yo Jang, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. After leader Kim Jong Un, Kim Yo Jang is a powerful figure in North Korea.
Kim Yo Jang said, ‘We should meet leader Kim Jong Un as soon as possible, Japanese Prime Minister Kishida has expressed his wish.’
There is rivalry between North Korea and Japan. North Korea’s arbitrary nuclear missile program has been a major reason for that. North Korea tests their long-range missiles by firing them towards Japan.
It is a threat to Japan. Japan, along with the US and South Korea, are protesting the threats from North Korea. Japanese Prime Minister Kishida is preparing to meet the North Korean leader under this background. (AFP)
