The Ministry of Agriculture says that the issuance of subsidy vouchers for the purchase of fertilizer to farmers who grow paddy in the Yala season will start from today (22) onwards. According to the approval of President Ranil Wickramasinghe, the Ministry of Agriculture stated that it will take steps to provide financial allocations for 650,000 farmers.
Under this program, a subsidy amount of 20,000 rupees per hectare and 40,000 rupees for two hectares will be given. The Department of Agricultural Development is issuing these vouchers to the 650,000 farmers who are cultivating paddy this year and it is stated that the farmers can only buy chemical fertilizers or organic fertilizers with these vouchers.
