The coming week will be very critical for Iran, says US President Donald Trump. This statement comes amidst reports that the US is also ready to participate in the attacks being launched by Israel against Iran. The military conflict, which began last Friday with Israeli attacks on Iran, is now escalating towards a broader war.
Last week, US President Donald Trump emphasized that Iran must surrender unconditionally. Yesterday, he stated that there is a possibility of him being involved in the attacks Israel is launching against Iran.
The US President made these remarks concurrently with a statement by Iranian spiritual leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who said that the Iranian people will never surrender and that if the US gets involved in Israeli attacks, it could lead to ‘irreversible damage’.
Meanwhile, at this critical juncture, a high-level meeting was held at the White House in the US to decide whether America would join the Israeli attacks. Although some media outlets reported that approval was given to strike Iran, many media outlets have reported that a final decision has not yet been made.
Here, America’s main focus has been on Iran’s highly secretive Fordow uranium enrichment plant.
Ongoing Attacks and Defense Systems
Throughout the past day, Iran and Israel have continued to attack each other.
Targets of Israeli attacks yesterday included missile production factories and the Tehran Police Headquarters, among several other targeted locations.
Concurrently, Iran also launched a series of missile attacks against Israel. Foreign media reported videos showing the launch of new ballistic missiles that had not been used in the conflict until now. However, Israel succeeded in destroying that missile in the air using its Arrow 3 missile defense system.
US Military Buildup in the Region
Amidst a high likelihood of US involvement in the Iran-Israel conflict, news emerged yesterday that several American fighter jets were being deployed to the region. Already, the US has military bases established in five Middle Eastern countries, with 40,000 US troops stationed there.
Furthermore, several warships stationed in the Gulf of Oman and the Persian Gulf are already assisting Israel in intercepting Iranian missiles. It is against this backdrop that the USS Nimitz aircraft carrier, along with several anti-missile vessels, which were stationed in the South China Sea, have been redirected to the Middle East.
Putin’s Statement
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin commented on the military conflict during a roundtable discussion. He was questioned about the possibility of assassinating the Iranian spiritual leader.
Russian President Vladimir Putin responded by saying, “I don’t even want to talk about such a possibility. I hear such talks, but I don’t even want to talk about it.”
This situation continues to raise tensions in the Middle East, with clear potential for significant regional and global impact.
