It is reported that 127 people died and more than 180 people were injured in a stampede at a football stadium in East Java, Indonesia.
According to the Indonesian Inspector General of Police, the stampede occurred after an argument between spectators escalated into a fight.
At that time, the police officers came to the stadium and tried to control the rioting crowd by firing tear gas and batons.
As the brawl broke out, police say the stampede broke out as spectators scrambled to leave the stadium. Hospital sources said that most of them died due to not being able to breathe. (Reuters)
