Foreign media reports that the death toll from the powerful earthquake in Java, the main island of Indonesia, has risen to 162.
It is said that a large number of other people have been injured and further operations are underway to find the people stuck in the debris.
According to foreign media reports, the epicentre of the earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 on the Richter scale was near the city of Cianjur in the mountains of West Java, which is about 75 kilometres southeast of the capital Jakarta.
