Janaka Rathnayake, chairman of the Public Utilities Commission, says that the statement he made regarding crude oil is still valid today.
He said that if legal action is taken against the statement he made, he is willing to do so and then the public can know all the facts including where this crude oil was obtained and its price before the court.
The chairman stated that the primary task of the political authority should be to find out if such a problem has arisen and the people responsible for it, and it is ridiculous to take legal action against the person who points out the mistake.
Electricity and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said yesterday (26) that the Ceylon Petroleum Statutory Corporation will respond legally to the actions of Janaka Rathnayake, chairman of the Public Utilities Commission, regarding the quality of imported crude oil.
