Minister of State for Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya says that the removal of import restrictions imposed in Sri Lanka will be considered in the future.
The minister said that Sri Lanka has the capacity to produce substitute goods for 670 items that are currently subject to import restrictions, and the minister pointed out that yoghurt, shellless coconut milk, Vesak baskets and even kites are among the goods imported from abroad.
The state minister further said that import restrictions on 795 items have been removed so far.
