Former South Korean President Lee Myung-bak, who was convicted and sentenced to 17 years in prison on corruption charges, was granted a presidential pardon.
Current President Yoon Seok Yeol moved to pardon former President Lee Myung-bak on the occasion of Christmas. Many prisoners in South Korea will receive presidential pardons during the Christmas holidays. In 2022, the number of pardoned prisoners is 1,300.
