As a pilot project, the State Ministry of Transport and Highways has worked together with the Department of Motor Traffic to provide light vehicle driving licenses for hearing-impaired people in the Gampaha district.
Thus, the driving license applicants have applied for the medical examination recently and a written test has also been conducted for them. It is reported that 76 people appeared for the written test and 44 passed.
They have been given temporary driving licenses for practical training (LEARNER PERMIT) and after 03 months of practical training, permanent driving licenses are to be given.
