The World Bank has released a new report on food security in 53 countries from September 2021 to August 2022.
According to the relevant report, Sri Lanka ranks fourth among the countries with the highest food inflation in the world and the country’s food inflation is shown at 91%.
According to this report, Zimbabwe, Lebanon, and Venezuela occupy the first three positions, while Turkey, Iran, Argentina, Moldova, Ethiopia, and Rwanda are the other countries in the top 10 with the highest food inflation.
In September 2021, food inflation in Sri Lanka was recorded as 9.9%, which has increased tenfold in a year and the value recorded in August 2022 is 91%.
