Plantation and Community Infrastructure Minister Samantha Vidyarathna has announced that a fertilizer subsidy will be provided to owners of coconut plantations less than five acres.
Speaking at the Consultative Committee meeting of the Plantation and Community Infrastructure Ministry in Parliament, the Minister explained that of the 55,000 metric tons of MOP fertilizer received from Russia, 27,500 metric tons were used to create 56,000 metric tons of mixed fertilizer.
The Minister further said that a 50-kilogram package of mixed fertilizer, valued at Rs. 9,500, will be distributed to coconut growers nationwide at a subsidized price of Rs.4,000 by the end of this month.
