The Sri Lanka Export Development Board said that the export income in the month of August this year (2023) has decreased by 10.91% compared to the value recorded in the month of August last year (2022).

Declining demand for export products, particularly in sectors such as apparel and textiles, rubber and rubber-related products, and coconut and coconut-related products, has led to a decline in merchandise exports.

Meanwhile, compared to July last year (2023), Sri Lanka’s merchandise exports have increased by 6.98% to 1091.6 million US dollars in August, according to the Export Development Board. This is stated in the latest report issued by Sri Lanka Customs.
