The Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha Election will be held today (26) and the polling will take place from 7.00 am to 4.00 pm.
Election Commission (EC) Chairman R.M.A.L. Rathnayake said that all the election officials, ballot papers, ballot boxes and other equipment required for the Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha Election were transported to the respective polling centres yesterday (25).
According to the Election Commission, 55,643 voters are eligible to vote at 48 polling centres for the Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha Election and the polling will be held using the 2018 voter registration list.
The EC Chairman said that all necessary security measures have been put in place to conduct the Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha Polls in a peaceful manner.
He said that the thumb on the left hand will be used for finger marking voters at the Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha Election in order to avoid any potential issues due to the little finger on the left hand having been already marked for the 2024 Presidential Election. People’s Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL) Executive Director Rohana Hettiarachchi said that they have deployed their officers for monitoring at all the polling stations for the Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha polls.
