A gazette notification has been issued again making electricity, petroleum and hospitals essential services. According to the order of President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Presidential Secretary Saman Ekanayake has issued this gazette announcement.
The gazette announcement states that all services related to electricity supply, petroleum products and fuel supply or distribution will become essential services.
Also, all service work or labour of any description required or to be done in connection with the maintenance and reception, care, feeding and treatment of patients in hospitals, nursing homes, dispensaries and other similar institutions have been made essential services.
