Edward Snowden, a US spy service contractor, has been granted citizenship by Russian President Putin.
According to foreign media reports, he has been granted citizenship nine years after the controversial incident of revealing the data of the secret intelligence operations of the American National Security Agency (CIA).
He was working in the CIA and in 2013 he revealed the domestic and international surveillance carried out by that agency.
Later, Edward Snowden escaped from America and went to Russia and got asylum there.
