The Cabinet has approved the closure of the “Itukama Covid-19 Healthcare and Social Security Fund“.

Accordingly, the official bank account maintained at the Bank of Ceylon’s corporate branch under the name of the Covid-19 Health and Social Protection Fund will not be operational after October 18, its Secretary Dr Taraka Liyapathirana said.

Due to this, the Presidential Media Division issued a statement saying that no money should be credited to that account and no more checks and money should be forwarded to the President’s Office for credit to that account.

2,207,164,785.58 rupees have been received from donors for the Covid fund.

As of October 18, 2022, the amount of money left in the Covid Fund is 216,877,431.05 rupees and it has been arranged to be credited to the President’s Fund.
