Babar Azam, the captain of the Pakistan cricket team, managed to set a world record as the player who crossed the 5000 ODI score in the least number of matches. In the recent match against New Zealand, Babar crossed the 5000 run mark by scoring a century and that match was Babar’s 99th ODI match.
Previously, South Africa’s Hashim Amla was among the records as the fastest batsman to cross the 5000-run mark and he had participated in 101 matches for that. So far, Babar has scored 5088 runs in the 99 matches he participated in. Babar, who is also ranked as the number one ODI batsman in the world, averages 59.85 runs per innings. (Divaina)
