The Colombo High Court has ordered frozen several bank accounts owned by former MP Anupa Pasqual, in connection with an investigation being carried out under the Anti-Corruption Act.Accordingly, two bank accounts owned by the former MP in Koggala and Matugama branches of a bank have been ordered frozen for three months, Ada Derana reporter said.The order was issued in consideration of a request made by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption in relation to the investigation carried out by the commission.

The Department of Posts has issued a clarification regarding the recent release of stamps featuring Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya and Minister Vijitha Herath. The Postal Department clarified that the stamps bearing the images of the Prime Minister and Minister Herath are exclusively commemorative gifts and were not part of the official stamp releases for this year’s World Postal Day. Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Response Team (SL CERT) has reported a significant rise in complaints related to online financial fraud in 2024. According to SL CERT’s Senior Information Engineer Charuka Damunupola, over 340 complaints involving financial scams have been received so far this year.“Up to September, we’ve received 7,210 complaints regarding online scams, with the majority of these linked to social media platforms. When we focus specifically on online-based fraud, around 20% of the complaints involve financial scams.
