At least seven individuals have sustained injuries in an accident involving three vehicles at the Inigodawela railway crossing on the Chilaw – Colombo main road this morning (21).Those injured have been admitted to the Chilaw District General Hospital, Ada Derana reporter said.The accident was a result of a container truck colliding with a parked van which rammed onto a bus at the railway crossing.Following the accident, the Inigodawela railway crossing has been closed.The Chilaw Police is conducting further investigations.
Gold prices in Sri Lanka have seen a notable increase once again, according to the latest market data from the Colombo Gold Centre.As of this morning (21), the price of a ‘sovereign’ of 22-carat gold at Sea Street in Colombo 11 has increased to Rs. 245,000, marking a jump of around Rs. 4,500 from Rs. 240,500 recorded on May 14.Similarly, the price of a sovereign of 24-carat gold has increased by Rs. 5,000, bringing it to Rs. 265,000 today.

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the proposal to initiate necessary amendments to the Inland Revenue Act No. 24 of 2017 in order to make it mandatory to furnish the Tax Identification Number (TIN) when opening all types of bank accounts.
