The largest lottery prize in Sri Lanka’s history was won yesterday (16).It was the grand prize of Rs. 474,599,422 from draw number 2210 of the National Lotteries Board’s Mega Power lottery.The winning lottery ticket was sold by a sales agent from Gokarella.Previously, the record for the largest lottery prize in Sri Lanka was Rs. 230 million which was also from the Mega Power lottery.

Authorities have frozen the assets of 88 individuals linked to organized crime and financial fraud, the police announced.Among those affected are several high-profile drug traffickers. The President’s Fund has launched a program to honor students who excelled at the district level in the 2023/2024 G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination.Under this initiative, 60 top-performing students from each district—representing all subject streams—will be selected and awarded financial scholarships and certificates of recognition, according to the President’s Media Division (PMD).
