The Colombo High Court today (July 16) ordered the adjournment of further hearing of the case filed against three defendants accused of attempting to assassinate the then Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, General Sarath Fonseka, in a suicide bombing at the Colombo Army Headquarters in 2006. Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the abduction and the murder of a youth in Kahawatta on June 30.A 22-year-old youth died in the shooting while another 27-year-old man was hospitalized after sustaining injuries.According to the Western Province- North Crimes Division, the four suspects were arrested for aiding and abetting the incident. The Cabinet of Ministers has granted approval to implement a project to facilitate the expeditious obtaining of passports for Sri Lankans living in foreign countries by using digital technology.
