The road adjacent to the University of Colombo has been closed due to a protest organized by the Inter-University Student Federation (IUSF).The protest has been organized demanding the formulation of a clear criteria for degrees and demanding authorities to streamline the recruitment process of degree holders into the teaching service.

The hearing of the case filed against Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe is currently underway at the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court.The former President, who is at the Intensive Care Unit of the Colombo National Hospital at present has joined the hearing via Zoom, Ada Derana reporter said.

The case filed against former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, who is currently in remand custody under the Public Property Act, has been taken up before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court.The case was called before Colombo Fort Magistrate Nilupuli Lankapura.At the time the case was taken up, former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, was not produced before court.Additional Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris appeared for the Criminal Investigation Department in the case while a legal team including President’s Counsel Tilak Marapana and Anuja Premaratna appeared for former President Ranil Wickremesinghe.The Attorney General’s Department has opposed granting bail to former President Wickremesinghe during the hearing.

The hearing of the case filed against former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, who was arrested and remanded over the alleged misuse of state funds has commenced at the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court.  Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe has not been produced in court for the hearing of the case filed under the Public Property Act. The National Transport Commission (NTC) announced that the unified bus timetable service for both Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) and private buses commenced at midnight yesterday (25) from the Bastian Mawatha Bus Terminal in Colombo.Deputy Minister of Transport and Highways Prasanna Gunasena stated that both SLTB and private buses are expected to operate from the same location within a specified timeframe from today.However, SLTB trade unions have expressed strong opposition to the move, stating that they will protest against the decision to operate long-distance bus services under a unified timetable involving both SLTB and private operators.Trade union members staged a…

Security has been beefed up at the Colombo National Hospital and surrounding areas from this morning (26), Buzzer News reporter said.This comes after the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested former President Ranil Wickremesinghe on August 22, in connection with allegations under the Public Property Act related to the misuse of state funds.
