The Attorney General has filed a writ petition in the High Court of Singapore against six defendants concerning the Express Pearl incident. Accordingly, according to the Presidential Media Division, a related hearing conference was held on May 15 and the next call will be held on June 1.
The Attorney General’s Department is said to be considering transferring the case to the Singapore International Commercial Court (SICC) based on the rules of the Singapore International Commercial Court (SICC). A Singaporean law firm has been appointed with cabinet approval to represent the Sri Lankan government in filing cases and managing future issues.
