The 18th Asia/Oceania Region Intergovernmental Ministerial Meeting on Anti-Doping will be held on the 12th and 13th at the Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel in Colombo. The World Anti-Doping Agency has planned those activities.
Representatives from more than 39 member countries in the Asia Pacific region, 10 members, including sports ministers from 9 countries and the president and CEO of the World Anti-Doping Agency, are also going to represent this conference.
In the press conference held yesterday (7), Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Roshan Ranasinghe commented as follows. “The trust placed in us by the World Anti-Doping Agency is a great achievement for us. I would like to express my thanks to all the staff including Professor Arjuna de Silva, and Director General Dr Sivali Jayawickrama, who dedicated themselves to this work. We are ahead as a country with the lowest doping use. This is a special victory for us as a country. It has been possible to protect the vitality of the game and work in the game with quality. It is our responsibility. We are committed to maintaining it. As the minister in charge of sports, I declare that I will intervene to provide maximum support to our athletes to demonstrate the country’s fame in front of the world through sports achievements in a way that respect is protected in harmony with the rest of the world.”
