Corporal K.P.M.N. Gunasekara of the 2nd (Volunteer) Battalion of the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps has been commended for her exemplary act of honesty after returning a lost wallet containing Rs. 102,220.00 in cash and important documents.
The female soldier, who is currently serving at the 54 Infantry Division, found the wallet on the premises of a bank in Mannar town and promptly handed it over to the Mannar Police Station to be returned to its rightful owner.
Following police inquiries, the wallet was identified and handed over to its owner – Mrs. Sundararasa Mary Sudarshani, a resident of Mannar.
Recognizing her integrity and dedication, the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Mannar Police Station presented Corporal Gunasekara a a letter of appreciation, recognizing her exemplary act in upholding the honour and reputation of the Sri Lanka Army.
