On the occasion of this year’s National Independence Day, former Speaker Deshbandu Karu Jayasuriya has received the Cabinet Order to award the ‘Sri Lankabhimanya’ award, which is given only once in a lifetime to Sri Lankan citizens and non-Sri Lankans who have rendered great service to the nation in the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.
The ‘Sri Lankabhimanya Award’ is the highest award given in the country.
The Council of Ministers has approved the plan presented by President Ranil Wickramasinghe to present this award to Mr Karu Jayasuriya in appreciation of his services.
The award is scheduled to be presented on February 03, 2023.
A once-in-a-lifetime national award has been given to Sri Lankan citizens and non-Sri Lankans who have rendered immense and excellent service to the nation in the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka since 1986. (Lankadeepa, Neth News)
