The Ministry of Agriculture says that another ship carrying 22,000 metric tons of urea fertilizer has arrived at the port of Colombo.
It is said that this is the second ship that has arrived in Sri Lanka under the financial allocation of 105 million US dollars given by the World Bank to buy urea fertilizer for paddy and maize crops this season.
This ship has arrived from Malaysia and the Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera has given instructions to the relevant authorities to start unloading the stock of urea fertilizer as soon as possible.
On the 28th of this month, another ship carrying urea fertilizer is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka and in the first week of next month, a ship carrying 40,000 metric tons of Bundi fertilizer is scheduled to reach Sri Lanka.
