13,173 files related to the assassination of John F. Kennedy have been released online for the first time.
With the release of these files, the White House has announced that 97% of the files related to the Kennedy assassination have been released.
The release of the files is not expected to reveal anything specific about the assassination, but historians say they hope to use the files to study Kennedy’s assassination.
On November 22, 1963, Kennedy was shot and killed during a tour in Dallas, Texas.
515 files related to that murder have not been released and among the released files, the complete file of 2545 has not been released.
The White House has said that it has decided not to release the 515 files that have been withheld until June 23 of next year and the reason for this is to prevent the damage caused by the release of those files. (AFP)
