The Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena informed the Parliament today (20) that outsiders can’t participate in the committee meetings held in the Parliament.
Accordingly, the speaker informed that only members of the committees, persons called to the relevant committees, staff and non-member parliamentarians who have obtained the formal permission of the chairman of the committee can participate in the committee meetings.
The Speaker further informed the Parliament that if it is expected to get the assistance of an outside person for the coordination and consultation of the Committee’s work, the Speaker’s written permission should be obtained.
