28 employees of the cleanliness unit were taken to the hospital while going to dispose of a pile of waste from the wards of the Anuradhapura teaching hospital in a pit cut in the land of Paldoruwa.
The incident involved a group of employees of a private institution working in the cleanliness unit of the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital.
When they were ready to put the bags containing surgical waste and injection plasters discarded from the wards into a hole dug in the Paldoruwa land, these people were sick because they inhaled the poisonous gas that came out when the bags were opened.
