The Election Commission has issued a statement saying that the local government election will not be held on March 9.
It is also mentioned that the date of the election will be announced on March 03. He also said that this decision was taken due to matters that arose out of the control of the Election Commission.
The announcement further states that a request has already been submitted to the Speaker of the Parliament of Sri Lanka to intervene in obtaining the money related to the election from the treasury. (Divaina)
