The US Congress was able to reach an agreement on raising the debt ceiling. Accordingly, the United States, the world’s largest economy, avoided the suspicion of defaulting on its debt.
American media reported that the resolution was passed by a vote of 63-36. A $31.4 trillion debt default would have occurred if the bill had not been approved.
