In a discussion held between the Minister of State for Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya and local school bag and shoe manufacturers, it is stated that the manufacturers have agreed to lower the prices of local school bags and shoes.
The Minister of State said that the prices of goods which had increased compared to the increase in the value of the dollar did not come down again when the dollar was devalued and due to this situation, the parents were in great difficulty.
It is stated that the state minister has requested the manufacturers to release their products in the market at the lowest possible price and accordingly they have agreed to it. They have further mentioned that they will officially inform the public on May 23 about the percentage of the products in question.
