In yesterday’s U19 Tri-Nations Series match at the Tolerance Oval in Abu Dhabi, UAE, Afghanistan defeated Sri Lanka by 62 runs. Sri Lanka U19 was dismissed for 236 in 41 overs against Afghanistan U19, who scored 298 in 49.2 overs. Afghanistan’s leading run-getter was Mohammad Haroon, who scored 88 off 59 balls while hitting seven boundaries and four sixes. Khalid Tariwal, 45 off 52 (2/4), Karan Hotak, 43 off 33 (1/4, 2/6), and Sohail Khan also contributed to the total’s expansion. The best bowler for Sri Lanka was Duvindu Ranathunga, who finished with 4 for 51.
Duvindu Ranathunga, who led Sri Lanka’s effort with 46 off 50 balls, including 5 boundaries, once again took centre stage. Sineth Jayawardene, the opening batter, hit a run on a ball with seven boundaries in it (ball 41), but they were unable to achieve the lofty total.
