A father and daughter who went to take selfie photos near Kumbukkan Oya in the Tambala area of Polonnaruwa have drowned yesterday (07) afternoon.
It is reported that this father and daughter fell into the stream while going to take a selfie. The two who fell into the stream got swept away by a current and disappeared.
Police, local residents and police lifeguards, navy officers and volunteer divers had launched an operation to find the two missing persons.
The bodies of the drowned father and daughter were found in the Paranagama area, two kilometres away from where they had fallen into the river.
A 46-year-old father and a 12-year-old daughter residing in the Kantankudiya area have died. It is said that Pulastipura Police is conducting further investigations regarding the incident. (Neth News)
