A businessman who came to deposit money at a private bank in Tambuttegama has been robbed of 223 lakh rupees by two armed men on a motorcycle.
A police officer from the Various Complaints Division of Tambuttegama Police Station who was passing by the place when the two suspects were fleeing after robbing the money, subdued the armed suspects and arrested them and took the money of 223 lakh rupees into police custody at the same time.
Accordingly, an officer named Police Sergeant Buddhika Kumara of Tambuttegama Police Station’s Various Complaints Division has taken steps to arrest the suspects.
Police stated that the arrested suspects are residents of the Tambuttegama area, aged 48 and 50 years.
A 12-bore firearm, 01 12-bore ammunition, a manna knife, gloves, a mobile phone and a motorcycle were also taken into custody by the police.
