The All Ceylon Traditional Coconut Oil Manufacturers Association says that if no tax is charged for local coconut oil production, it is possible to provide a litre of coconut oil to consumers at a price between 350 and 380 rupees.

Accordingly, its chief convenor Buddhika de Silva stated that since the price of imported oil is rising rapidly in the market, the government should provide concessions to local coconut oil producers.

He further stated that the importers of coconut oil are hiding their stocks and presenting the prices as they see fit, and there is no price control.
