The Department of Meteorology has issued a red alert for heavy rains.
Accordingly, the department states that the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces and Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts may receive more than 150 mm of rain.
The Department of Meteorology requests that people living in low-lying areas near rivers and landslide-prone areas be alert in this regard.
