Sri Lanka’s Yupun Abeykoon, who participated in the Florence Sprint Festival held in Italy, managed to win the gold medal by completing the 200 meters with a time of 20.60 seconds.
The 200 meters event is the first competition that Yupun participated in this year. Yupun also participated in several 200m events last year, where he finished the event with a time of 20.37 seconds and broke the national record in that event.
Yupun, who holds the South Asian record (9.96 seconds) in the 100m event, is also the only South Asian athlete to finish the event in less than 10 seconds.
