Kalinga Kumarage managed to win the first medal for Sri Lanka in the National Inter State Senior Athletics Championships 2023 held in India. Kalinga Kumara’s athlete showed this feat by winning the gold medal in the men’s 400m final. He managed to finish the race in 45.64 seconds.
It is remarkable that Kalinga recorded a time of less than 46 seconds in this match and this is also the fastest time he has recorded in this tournament. Kalinga qualified for the semi-finals with a time of 46.76 seconds in the 400m preliminary round. The time he recorded there was 46.27 seconds. In the semi-finals, the first and second positions were claimed by two Kerala players.
