The barter system has begun again.
In 2021, the governments of the two countries reached an agreement to replace the oil obtained from Iran with the tea products of this country and the system is scheduled to start next July.
Accordingly, the Deputy Head of Mission of the Iranian Embassy, Sohail Keiri, said that Sri Lanka will first export tea for fuel worth 250 million US dollars obtained from Iran.
According to the agreement, it is planned to export tea worth 5 million US dollars per month to Iran for 48 months.
