Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera says that imported eggs are used only for the bakery industry and should not be allowed to be sold in stores for general consumption.
Accordingly, the Director General of the Animal Production and Health Department, Dr K.A.C.H.A. Kothalawala, has been instructed to prepare a series of instructions related to the use of eggs for the bakery industry.
Considering the shortage and need for eggs in the country, the Department of Animal Production and Health has given permission for the temporary import of eggs. (Divaina)
