Mr Asiri Valisundara, Chairman of the State Commercial Various Statutory Corporation, said that it has been decided to import ten lakh eggs each day from five poultry farms in India. The chairman said that those were imported from two chicken farms in India. In addition, the Animal Production Department has approved the purchase of eggs from three other farms in India.
Mr Asiri further said that according to the report given by the three officers of the Department of Animal Production and the State Commercial Legal Corporation who visited poultry farms in India, permission was given to import eggs from three more farms. He also said that it is planned to distribute eggs to bakeries and hotels, which are imported at the rate of ten lakhs per day.
